Student Speak Out
At each meeting with our students we are blown away by their creativity. They always have such beautiful things to share and they make some fantastic art, too!
Where best to share this art than here on the blog?!
As part of our series Student Speak Out, I’d like to celebrate some awesome artwork done by our students at Smith and Duffy Elementary School.
As part of our lesson on Girl Power, we did an activity to better understand and define the words “self-empowerment” and “self-love”.
To start we listened to these awesome songs.
Brave by Sara Bareilles
Roar by Katy Perry
Scars to Your Beautiful by Alessia Cara
Who Says by Selena Gomez
As they listened, they drew or wrote words and phrases that expressed what self-empowerment and self-love means to them.
I can’t wait to share more of our students amazing work with all of you in the future. So, keep an eye out for our Students Speak Out posts each month.
Until then, give the songs a listen. Which words stood out to you? How do they align with what self-empowerment and self-love mean to you?
